KYBA Referee Assignment and Evaluation

Starting with season 2015-2016, the KYBA is ustilizing the GoalLine Referee Management module within the website to support the process of managing  refeees availability, overall process of games assignment/cancellations/modifications as well as referees communication and the evaluation.

All referees who are selected to be members of the Referee program for this basketball season will be invited to register as officials into the KYBA registration system.

Once the referees are registered, they will be provided a password that will enable them to login to their referee profile page. At that page, each refeee will be able to see few important links:

  • Outstanding (pending) assignments which need to be accepted or declined.

  • Link to review already confirmed assignments for a specific period.

  • Link to observe if there is any games for whih currently assigned referees can no longer cover, and to claim those games if available.

  • Link to the Incident Report form. This form needs to be filled if there is any incident during or immediately before or after the game. The report needs to be filled with required data and send to appropriate person(s).

  • Referee profile management (reseting password etc).

Here are more information about important work-flows and exepctations of the referees in the KYBA Referee program.

How do I let Referee in Chief know when I am available to officiate games?

Once you login to your referee profile, you will be able to prvide you availability on a given Saturday (all of te regular House League games are on Saturdays). There is a link at menu on the left side Set Availability which will take you the page where you can set your availability (on hourly basis).

Typically you will be able to provide your availability up to 2 weeks ahead of time. Games will assigned on Tuesday of each week, so please make sure you have your updated availability in the system before Tuesday 12:00pm each week.

How do I know when new games are assigned to me?

The email notification will be sent to you for each new referee assignement that is assigned to you by Referee in Chief.

What do I need to do once I receive notification(s) about my new referee assignments?

You will need to login to your refereee profile and accept or decline the assignement.

There is a link ( Confirm Pending Assignments(x) with x indicating how many new assignments, pending your approval are there) which will take you to the page where you can confirm/decline the games.

Please do that (accept or decline) as soon as you can so that Referee in Chief can better plan the overall game assignment. especially if you are declining the game, please do it asap as he needs to find a replacement for you - the sooner he know the more time he has to do that.

My personal schedule changed and I am no longer available to officiate the game(s) that I accepted. What to do?

Please let Refeee in Chief know about the change in schedule and your cancellation. If there is enough time (2-3 days before the game) he will be able to find the replacement. However, the closer to the game the more difficult is to find replacement.

In that case, you can use "games up for grabs" option in your referee profile. That will send a notification to all available referees at your or higher level that your games are available to be taken. That will enable quick and some late minute replacements.
