KYBA Facility Code of Conduct

KYBA is very fortunate to have access to 30+ school gyms in the Kanata area in order to provide the youth of our community the opportunity to play basketball.  Since we do not have our own gyms, please remember that we are visitors in the facilities that we use.   Therefore, it is important that you respect facilities as well as the representatives of the facilities, at all times.

All players, coaches, parents or other family members and spectators must adhere to the following KYBA Facility Code of Conduct:

  • No players are allowed in the gym without their coach and/or assistant coach

  • Only KYBA registered coaches or volunteers sanctionned by KYBA can provide supervision of players.

  • No player can leave the gym premises without coaches permission

  • Hold the balls in the halls! No bouncing or throwing of balls outside of the gymnasium

  • No street shoes or boots are to be worn in the gym by ANYONE! Boots and overshoes must be removed by everyone, including spectators before entering gyms.

  • No equipment is to be removed from the gym.  Any school equipment used with permission must be returned to its proper storage area after use. This includes things such scoreclocks/controllers, tables, chairs etc.  Please refer to the KYBA Gym listing below for specific policies related to each gym, including direction on which schools allow us to use school equipment and where it is stored.

  • No food or drink is to be taken into the gym

  • Groups must assist in set up and clean up, including tables, chairs, clocks, picking up garbage etc  The last group leaving the gym each day must ensure all is secure before leaving

  • All areas of the school are off limits except for the gym and the hallways used to get to and from the gym. Please ensure all siblings are supervised and are in the gym ONLY!

Thank you for your support and understanding!

Violation of the KYBA Facility Code of Conduct can result in KYBA permits being cancelled by school boards - therefore putting programs in jeopardy and impacting the opportunities we can provide to the youth of our community.  Violations by members are therefore taken very seriously and can result in de-registration of players who themselves or whose family members are in repeat violation of this policy.
