Question: Is registration for 2012/2013 Season open? Can I register for the season 2012/2013?
Yes, you can register for House League or Small Ball program now. The registration for this basketball season is officially opened.
However, if you child is trying for Competitive or Next Level team, than the registration should be completed after the tryouts are completed.

If the KYBA is unable to offer the selected program, a player may withdraw with no financial penalty.
Any player may withdraw from the KYBA programs before the official start of the playing season on October 16, 2011 and receive a full refund of their registration fees (less administration fee of $10).
After October 16th, there is a fourteen (14) day grace period during which a player may withdraw and receive a full refund provided he / she has not practiced or played with his / her team. If the player has practiced or played with his / her team, then the registration fee will be refunded less the program fee for the player’s division (typically $15).
Once the 14-day grace period has expired, players withdrawing from KYBA programs will be refunded less the program fee for the player’s division (typically $15) and must return any team shirts and / or other equipment (e.g. basketball) received from the team. This charge is made regardless whether the player practiced or played with his / her team.
After twenty-eight (28) days from the official season start, players withdrawing from the KYBA programs will be refunded 50% of their registration fees until December 21, 2011. This charge is made regardless whether the player practiced or played with his / her team. The player may retain any team shirts and / or other equipment (e.g. basketball) received from the team.
All withdrawal requests requiring refunds must be submitted to the Registrar in writing on or before December 21, 2011. After that, no refunds will be issued regardless of the player’s participation with his / her team.
All notifications of withdrawal must be made in writing by the parent(s) or legal guardian to the KYBA Registrar. Written notifications may be by e-mail or physical mail. Withdrawals will be confirmed in writing by the Registrar. The Registrar will not act upon a withdrawal until written notice has been received.
Under special circumstances, verbal notification to the divisional convener will accepted when getting written notification to the Registrar before a deadline is not possible. However, the verbal notification must be followed up with a written notification as soon as possible. Verbal notification before a given deadline will be confirmed with the divisional convener and acceptance of that notification is at the discretion of the Registrar. Verbal notification to coaches will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Question:When do we get to know the schedule for House League teams?
After Thanksgiving you will be notified by the coach of your team about the dates and locations of practices and games. If you do not receive the call from the coach or convenor by the end of the October, please contact either VP of House League or divisional convenor.
Question: When do practices and games start in House League ?
All teams in the KYBA House League start with practice in the second half of October. The first weekend of November is when the games start for all levels in KYBA HL.
Games are played on Saturdays except for Juvenile Boys. Juvenile boys HL teams play on weekday nights (usually Monday and Tuesday).
Question:How long does the House League season last?
All teams in House League start with practices a week or two after Thanksgiving. Games start first week of November, except for Novice level, where games start in January (practice only untill then).
Season ends in first week of April for Novice and Atoms, and early May for Bantam, Midget and Juvenile age groups.
Question: Tryouts and player evaluations for Competitive teams - Who?
Tryouts and player evaluation are for competitive only. Tryouts (skill evaluation) are used to select the KYBA's competitive teams. Evaluations are conducted by the coaching staff for each division. There are no evaluations for House League teams.
If you want to try for competitive team you should mark that on your registration form and show up at the first scheduled tryout. You might or might not be called by coach of the appropriate competitive team for the first tryout. If you opted for it you can just show up.

Question: I have no basketball experience - what level am I? Can I play in House League?
The KYBA's House League program is the basic and hence, most widely used program. No skills is required nor previous basketball experience in order to play in a House League team at any level.
Levels (Novice, Atom, Bantam, etc) depend on age group only and they are not related to skills level at all.
Divisional convenors create even teams that have about the same number of beginners as well as experienced players making the league well balanced.
Question: What about the schedule for the Small Ball program?
The Small Ball program will start the last week of October and go for 16 weeks until the end of March.
It is a part of House League and registration is handled in the same manneras all other players.
