Feb 24 2021: Ontario Basketball Releases 5 year Strategic Plan

Feb 16, 2021: Pods are back to the court this week in Ottawa, under Orange Restrict guidelines.
Ontario remains in Phase 3 of Ontario Basketball's Return to Play guidelines - no games or scrimmage play; all skills must be modified to provide for distancing between players.

Nov 20, 2020: Update from Ontario Basketball on Return to Play
OBA has always anticipated a phased approach to Return to Play involving five phases (click here for OBA Return to Play Plan). Phase 5 would be the full resumption of province-wide competition involving OBL and OBA Championships. It appears, at this time, unrealistic to expect to play a modified Phase 5 OBL competition schedule in the 2020-21 season. We are preparing for a modified Phase 4 resumption of competition during the 2020-21 season that will involve regional games and tournaments beginning April 1, 2021.

Oct 9, 2020: Ontario moves Ottawa to modified Stage 2.
At this time, gyms are not included in closures announced.  Training pods will continue to run with a maximum of 10 players per session, with masks required.

July 27 Update:

KYBA continues to work closely with our governing body, Ontario Basketball, as well as health officials for Ottawa and Ontario, in order to plan for our 2020-2021 season.  KYBA will meet and exceed all guidelines and return to play protocols to ensure a safe return for all of our players.  The KYBA Executive Team has planned for multiple contingency scenarios for our 2020-2021 season and will move forward as restrictions allow, providing regular updates to members along the way.

Ontario Basketball has now officially entered Phase 3 of the return to play guideline.  Full details can be found here:
https://basketball.on.ca/ontario-basketball-releases-return-play-guidelines-phase-3/

https://basketball.on.ca/ontario-basketball-releases-return-play-guidelines-phase-2/

The province of Ontario, Ottawa Public Health Unit, is also in Phase 3 of reopening.  Clear guidelines are published as they relate to stage 3 team sports, as well as outlining gathering sizes/definitions and team sport bubbles.  Full details can be monitored here:
Full Canada Basketball Return to Play guidelines can be found here:

Updates will continue to be posted as they are available.

KYBA looks forward to welcoming all of our players to the gym for our 2020-2021 season!  In the meantime, players are encouraged to get exercise and have fun in their driveways or outdoor courts, all the while respecting health guidelines so that we may all return to sport sooner rather than later!

Warmly,
Your KYBA Executive Team
