After capturing the gold medal at Eastern Ontario Championship (on March 21-23) the Ottawa Next Level U12 Boys wins gold medal at Ontario Cup Div 3 hosted in St Catharines/Niagara region on April 4-6.

After winning the gold medal in EOBA Div1, the boys continued to play their best basketball of the season at Ontario Cup (for Major Atom Boys) and managed to win another gold medal.

The ONL U12 won all of their 4 games at the Provincial Championships and well-deserved won the gold medal in Division 3..

The ONL U12 team was initially seed at the top of the Division 3 for Major Atom Ontario Cup, the 17th overall in Ontario. Considering that there were 11 Major Atom Divisions (with about 90 teams in total) - this was already a great success for the boys.

The team opened the tournament with the win against Tecumseh Saints on Friday night. After a long drive  to Niagara Falls, the boys were not at there best but still played good enough to end with a comfortable win - 46:34.

The win in the first game enbaled the ONL U12 team to have a slightly easier competition in the second game.

The ONL team played KW Vipers team from Kitchener-Waterloo who lost their first game on Friday night vs Durham City Bulldogs - Team East.

However, since the second game of the Ontario Cup is a deciding game which teams will be playing for medals and which ones will be in consolation bracket - both teams needed a win to advance in the medal round.

The game was quite exciting one and for the most part of it very close. However, the depth of talent on ONL team prevailed and the ONL U12 won the game by 41:32.

In the semifinal game played on Saturday afternoon, the ONL U12 met Durham City Bulldogs - Team West.

The Bulldogs opened game very strong and had a lead (25:20) at the half time. However, the ONL U12 team played much better in the second half, and teamn's strong defense and good execution in transition as well as in half court offense brought them to another win: 55:46.

The boys are off to a gold medal game!

In the Division 3 gold medal game ONL U12 faced their old friends from the other side of the town - Gloucester Wolverines Major Atom team.

It was great to have all-Ottawa Division 3 finals - proving again that Ottawa is one of The places in Ontario to play basketball!

The final game between ONL U12 and Wolverines was exciting as well as all of their games were this season.

ONL U12 started strong and had an eraly lead 10:0. However, Wolverines did not give up. they played hard, matched up the intensity and level of play of ONLU12 and early in the second half, the game was equalized and became one-point game.

However, as it was in all games at the Ontario Cup, the depth of the talent on ONL team was a deciding factor of the game. ONL U12 prevailed once again, with their good individual and team defense as well as abaility to handle the ball well on the offense and execute when the outcome of the game was on the line.

ONL U12 won the game with the score: 62:51 and won the Division 3 gold medal!

Congratulations to all boys and coaches on a very successfull season!
