Season Start-Up!!

Dear Families,

Welcome to the KYBA Family!  We are excited for you to join us for our 2023-24 season!  We are very busy preparing for players to join us in the gym later this month.  We wanted to pass along some information in anticipation of the season ahead!

Sort Outs

All house league players (Novice/Atom/Bantam/Midget/Jr) will be asked to attend sort outs.  This allows us to form balanced teams - balanced teams allows us to provide a fun season on the court where every player has the opportunity to grow and build confidence!

Sort Out Schedules


Unavailable Days:

We recognize our players and families are busy and may participate in other sports and activities.  During registration players can indicate up to 2 unavailable evenings and we will avoid assigning players to a team that practices on those 2 days.  We recognize that those unavailable days may vary between registration time and the start of the season.  Do not worry - these details will be confirmed at sort outs so we can ensure we don't assign you to a practice night on one of your 2 unavailable days!

It is critical that all members have opted in to receive emails from us, or you will miss important messages with your team assignment and schedules.  If you are unsure or if you need to update your listed email address(es) on your player's profile, please let your Convenor know at sort outs.  You may also check in with our Administrator.

Season Start-Up

Following sort-outs we will get busy forming balanced teams. 

• You will receive team details (coach, weekly practice time/location) via email the first week of October. 
• House league practices wil begin as of Oct 10. 
• Divisions will run exhibition games on October weekends - this provides players and coaches some pre-season development time, and also provides our KYBA Jr Officials with critical pre-season training time!
• Official league games will begin on Nov 4/5.

At this time, we have the following blocks of time reserved for our weekly house league games for each division.  Exact start/end times may vary slightly dependent on the # teams formed.
Novice Boys - Saturdays 1:30-6pm
Atom Boys - Saturdays 8am-6pm
Bantam Boys - Sundays 8am-6pm
Midget Boys - Saturdays 8am-6pm
Jr Boys - Sundays 8:30am-3pm
Novice/Atom Girls - Saturday games with West End Basketball League (hosted at a West Ottawa site)
Bantam Girls - Saturdays 8am-6pm
Midget Girls - Saturdays 8:30am-3pm with West End Basketball League
Jr Girls - Saturday games with West End Basketball League (part of the season hosted by KYBA)

Tykes

Our 4 Fall Tykes sessions will all get underway next week!  The Tuesday and Thursday groups have already received some details from our VP of Entry Level Programs.  Those registered for our Sunday sessions can expect to receive further details shortly!

We wish our youngest athletes lots of fun on the court with us this Fall!
