Kanata Cavaliers Atom Girls Selects Bring Home Gold!

The team that almost never came to be....after several attempts to recruit a coaching team for the ATOM Girls (U12) Selects 2017/2018 team things did not look promising.  Two months into the season, the club found a volunteer crew to coach the team.   Headed by coach Rumali Werapitiya, Asst Coaches Rue Wirth and Kirby McBurney and Team Manager Barry Godden they set out to form a team.

Practises started in November - the first game played in January.   The team formed and stormed...and came together as the KYBA Atom Girl Select - Genies.  That’s right a magical group of girls ready to take on the basketball world.

This past weekend - in very convincing style, undefeated in the round robin - they won the Gold Medal for  the OBE Division 3 Championship.   More than winning - memories were created, friendships formed and great basketball was played!
